Perennial Birthday Card for Happy Stampers Blog Hop

Perennial Birthday Card

It is time again for the Happy Stampers Bog Hop and this week we have Marilyn Pearen hopping with Eva and I.  We have a colour challenge this week and the colours we are using are Lovely Lipstick, Pear Pizzazz and Grapefruit Grove.

For my card today, I chose to use the Perennial Birthday Stamp set from the Annual Catalogue.  My card is a fairly simple card; for some reason I have a bit of a mental block when given a colour challenge.  On my card I have used the Rectangle Stitched Thinlet Dies; I love these dies and would highly recommend you invest in them.

Here is how I created my card:
  • Card Base - Thick Whisper White Cardstock cut at 8½ x 5½, scored at 4¼ and folded on the score line.
  • Pear Pizzazz Cardstock cut using the Rectangle Stitched Thinlet Dies and embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder.
  • Lovely Lipstick Cardstock cut using a smaller Rectangle Stitched Thinlet Die and embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder.
  • On a piece of regular Whisper White Cardstock stamp the flowers and leaves from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set in Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove and Pear Pizzazz inks.  Cut out using another smaller Rectangle Stitched Thinlet Die.
  • Stamp the Happy Birthday Sentiment from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set in Lovely Lipstick on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and die cut with a die from the Stitched Labels Framelits Dies.
  • Die cut a piece of Grapefruit Grove with the Rectangle Stitched Thinlet Dies.
To assemble the card:
  • Using Multi Purpose Liquid Glue, attach the Pear Pizzazz and Lovely Lipstick layers to the card base and offset them.
  • Attach the stamped Whisper White layer to the Lovely Lipstick Layer having it straight to the bottom and top of the card.
  • Attach the die cut sentiment layer to the Grapefruit Grove die cut Rectangle with either snail adhesive or multi purpose liquid glue.
  • Run some adhesive below where the sentiment will be placed and attach two pieces of the Grapefruit Grove Organdy Ribbon (the ribbon was a Sale-A-Bration item and is currently not available to order.  It may be available in mid February or early March but only while supplies last).
  • Attach the sentiment over the ribbon using dimensionals.
  • Add a Grapefruit Grove flower sequin from the Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins and you are finished.
I hope you like the above card.  As I was on a bit of a roll I created a second card using the same colours and the Incredible Like You Stamp set.  Hope you like this one also!

Stampin' Up! Hello Cupcake Card
Hello Cupcake Card

Today is the day for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop and my friend Eva and I are using the following sketch for our cards today.
The Hello Cupcake Card I created today is using the Hello Cupcake Stamp Set which is a free item from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure when you purchase $60.00 of product before shipping and taxes.

I have also used two other items from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure, the Grapefruit Grove Foil paper and the Grapefruit Grove Organdy Ribbon.  I just love the holographic effect of the Grapefruit Grove Foil paper.  The Grapefruit Grove Foil comes in a pack with Lovely Lipstick Foil paper, you get 4 - 12 x 12 sheets of each.  The Grapefruit Grove Organdy Ribbon comes in a pack with Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove, Highland Heather and Lemon Lime Twist, you get 5 spools; 5 yards each.  This ribbon matches the colours in the Gingham Gala 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper Pack.

Here is how I created my Hello Cupcake Card:
  • Grapefruit Grove Cardstock cut at 8½ x 5½ scored at 4¼.
  • Grapefruit Grove Foil Sheet (this is a Sale-A-Bration item) cut at 4 x 5¼ and run through the Big Shot using the Oh My Stars Textured Embossing Folder and then adhered to the card base.
  • Cut a strip of Grapefruit Grove Cardstock at 2 x 3½ and snip one end into a banner shape.  Cut two pieces of Grapefruit Grove Gingham Gala Designer Paper at ⅝ x 3⅝ and snip one end into a banner shape.  Adhere the Gingham Gala Banner Strips to the larger Grapefruit Grove Banner and adhere to the Grapefruit Grove Foil layer as shown in the sketch.
  • Petal Pink and Whisper White Cardstock cut out with the Rectangle Stitched Dies.  The Petal Pink Rectangle is approximately 2⅝ x 4, the Whisper White Rectangle is approximately 2¼ x 3½
  • On the Whisper White Rectangle stamp the cupcake from the Hello Cupcake Stamp set (this is a Sale-A-Bration item) using Early Espresso Ink for the sentiment and bottom of the cupcake and for the frosting use Grapefruit Grove Ink.  I stamped the sprinkles using Soft Suede Ink.
  • In the space between the cupcake and the sentiment I added a strip of the Grapefruit Grove Foil Sheet cut at ½ x 2¼, topped with the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and the Grapefruit Grove Organdy Ribbon (this is a Sale-A-Bration item).
  • Adhere the Whisper White Rectangle to the Petal Pink Rectangle and adhere to the card using Dimensionals.
